As Johannesburg starts warming up, Melrose Arch is preparing to welcome the festive season in the most beautiful way possible – with music that not only feeds the soul but also supports those in their time of greatest need.

The debut “All White Classics on the Square” concert, taking place on Saturday, 15 November 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm, promises to be more than just a musical treat; it’s a celebration of compassion, community, and the power of coming together for a cause that touches us all.

Where Classical Meets Contemporary

Enjoy a perfect summer afternoon at The Square in Melrose Arch, the November heat carrying the soaring notes of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” performed by the renowned Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg. Under the skilled baton of Conductor Kutlwano Masote, soloists Bonolo Kgaile, Pendo Masote, and Jonathan Mayer will breathe life into these timeless compositions.

But that’s just the first act. In an innovative twist that bridges centuries of musical evolution, celebrated DJ Courtnae Paul will join forces with the orchestra for a unique “DJ vs Maestro” set that promises to reimagine the boundaries between classical and modern sounds. This creative fusion represents the perfect metaphor for our community – different backgrounds coming together to create something beautiful and meaningful.

The Heart Behind the Harmony

While the music alone is worth the price of admission, the true power of this concert lies in its purpose. Every R300 ticket purchased directly supports Greendale House Palliative and Hospice Care (formerly HospiceWits). Greendale House has been a pillar of support for Johannesburg families facing life-limiting illnesses for over four decades.

“Every ticket purchased for this concert directly supports care for patients and families in need,” explains Jacqui Kaye, CEO for Greendale House. “For patients who are critically ill and families who cannot afford hospice care, this support ensures that no patient faces the end of life without proper care.”

Our dedicated team at Greendale House includes doctors, nurses, and social workers who provide comprehensive care for people with advanced cancer, organ failure, and other serious illnesses. Their services extend beyond medical care to include pain management, counselling, and essential family support during some of life’s most challenging moments.

A Long-Standing Partnership of Care

The relationship between Melrose Arch and Greendale House isn’t new. Melrose Arch has a long-standing tradition of supporting our organisation, along with other causes that strengthen families and communities throughout Johannesburg.

“The partnership between Greendale House and Melrose Arch allows us to bring people together for a world-class cultural experience while making it easy for them to support patients in need simply by buying a ticket,” explains Jacqui Kaye.

This collaboration exemplifies how businesses and community organisations can work together to create meaningful impact while providing enjoyable experiences for Johannesburg residents.

Why This Concert Matters

Since its founding in 1979, Greendale House has remained steadfast in its mission to provide high-quality hospice and palliative care to all Johannesburg residents, regardless of background, race, religion, or economic status. Today, it stands as one of the few organisations in Johannesburg that aims to guarantee care for all, across every background.

However, the financial reality is challenging. The cost of providing this essential care now exceeds R15 million annually. Even in its most successful fundraising years, Greendale House covers only part of this gap, making community support through events like this vital to keeping their doors open to everyone.

“Times are tough, and we know people are watching every rand,” explains Jacqui. “That’s why this concert matters so much. It gives Joburgers the chance to enjoy a beautiful afternoon of music, while knowing their ticket is helping someone’s mother, father, or child receive care during serious illness.”

Join the Symphony of Support

The “All White Christmas Classics on the Square” concert isn’t just an opportunity to experience world-class musicians in a beautiful setting – it’s a chance to be part of something bigger than ourselves. As we welcome the festive season, what better way to celebrate than by supporting an organisation that brings comfort and dignity to patients battling life-threatening conditions.
